Cambodia and Israel to Strengthen Labor Sector Cooperation

Phnom Penh, March 28, 2024 - In a move to foster growth and bilateral relations, Cambodia and Israel have committed to expanding their cooperation within the labor sector. This development emerged from a meeting at the Cambodian Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training's office in Phnom Penh on March 27, where Minister Heng Sour met with Eli Eliyahu Sneh, Minister Counsellor of the Embassy of Israel to Cambodia.

During the discussion, Minister Heng Sour outlined the Cambodian government's labor reforms, which aim to align more closely with market demands and technological advancements. The reforms underscore Cambodia's proactive approach to enhancing the quality and relevance of its workforce in the face of evolving economic landscapes.

Eli Eliyahu Sneh expressed optimism about the collaboration, noting its potential to deliver mutual benefits that will spur economic growth and strengthen the ties between the two nations.

Minister Heng Sour shared insights into Cambodia's successful labor supply collaborations with countries like Japan and South Korea, emphasizing the tangible benefits such partnerships have brought to Cambodian workers, including skill development and improved living standards.

To pave the way for effective implementation, Minister Heng Sour recommended that technical working groups from both countries commence discussions on the specifics of their cooperative efforts. This initiative marks a new chapter in Cambodia-Israel relations, with the labor sector poised to become a key area of mutual interest and collaboration.
